How does 1-on-1 coaching work?
Whether online or in-person, every bit of training is planned for you.
My job as your coach is to adapt training to your schedule and your life.
That means I’ll account for what equipment you have, what facilities you can access, and what best serves your goal from the beginning.
Every time we communicate (via comments on your training sessions, in monthly check-ins, and by phone when you need me), I’ll modify and update your training so you don’t ever have to wonder what to work on next.
You just focus on executing so you can get better.
Coaching is the way to guarantee that you have your healthiest, fastest, most powerful season yet. We work together for as little as 3 months and for as long as I’m helpful to you so you always have the support you need no matter how far out the season is or how long it lasts.

About Coach Dunte
I’m Dunte.

Over the years, I’ve struggled with what felt like mutually exclusive arrangements: the corporate professional and the rabble-rousing contrarian; the injured hurdler and the obsessive fixer; the hyper-social introvert and the home gym user with an IG account.
It turns out that all the things I love come together in the area of human performance.
I love both physical performance and emotional health.
I love reading both historical and emergent research.
I love to solve tricky problems.
And I love helping people.
So I coach athletes who want more than a training plan.
I coach people who want to be seen and heard as human first, athlete second.
It’s the gift I’ve been given and my way of serving the world.
But it isn’t a story of successes or victories that led me to coaching athletic performance. I haven’t been world-class. I haven’t been a professional athlete. I haven’t won any championships.
I got here because I was never the athlete I knew I could be.
In my high school years, I fell below my potential because I never had guidance in the sports I cared about. The motto in my school was “lift heavy, get big, work hard” then everything would somehow work out. But we didn’t get technique corrections, we didn’t get training plans, and we didn’t get any personalized attention at all. While I thrived as a football player, I floundered as a sprint hurdler, despite that being where my heart was.
In my college years, I fell below my potential because I never stuck to a sport long enough to master it — in fact, I didn’t understand what mastery even was; only that I lacked it. My approach was to learn the foundations of a sport, hit my first plateau, then quit the sport to chase a new shiny object. That helped expose me to dozens of sports, but it cut my rise far short of my capability. I was always stronger, faster, leaner, and smarter than my performance indicated, so I was a chronic underperformer despite having enormous potential.
And in my adult years, I have fallen below my potential because I rushed to “catch up” in training. I have pushed too heavy, too hard, and too often several times over. The result has been both minor and catastrophic overuse injuries; it has been both acute and chronic pain.
But these are the years when everything has come around.
As I gained and lost the trust of athletes…
As I studied and stole from the best coaches…
And as I devoured research on human performance…
I developed a renegade perspective on training.
Now my athletes grow and thrive in…
- Masters track & field
- club and pro ultimate
- club rugby
- league soccer
- league flag football
- Highland Games
and a few other sports!
Now my own performance is marching steadily higher in Masters sprint hurdles.
And now I understand how to repeat that success.
If you’re here, it’s because you’re on an athletic journey of your own.
